Chillax & Fiddlesticks

In 2023, Harwood Youth Lacrosse and Mad River Valley Lacrosse merged into the Highlander Youth Lacrosse League. Chillax (hosted in the Mad River Valley) and Fiddlesticks (hosted in Waterbury) are now merged into Chillax. We still serve two locations – but now under one name.

Our Chillax program is for kids who are in Kindergarten to 2nd Grade. The name of the game at this age is all about having fun and getting to learn the basics of lacrosse. Held for a short season between May-June, these kids come together for an hour of lax games. If they're not laughing and smiling, then we're not doing our jobs right! Our goal at this level is to foster a love of the game, and to have kids start to get experience with a stick.

After each session, kids are welcome to stay around and play Speed Lacrosse in each of our locations. Hosted by our partners at Woodchuck Lacrosse. Woodchuck coaches come to us – so the kids can stay in one spot. These games are 3v3 on short fields and with small goals.

Cost
This program is free; however, we do require USA Lacrosse Membership ($35) which covers the Club under the USA Lacrosse Insurance policy. Before registering for Chillax, be sure to get your child registered with USA Lacrosse, by visiting https://www.usalacrosse.com/membership.

Equipment
We use lacrosse starter sticks and have plenty of sticks for every player. We use tennis balls or soft balls. No other equipment is needed.

It is important to note – at this age, this is a no-contact sport (it isn't until grade 5 that modified checking is introduced). Kids are encouraged to wear mouthguards, but they are not required.
